Bills punter Matt Araiza accused of rape in civil lawsuit in California

Rookie punter Matt Araiza and two former college teammates at San Diego State University have been accused in a California civil lawsuit of gang raping a 17-year-old girl at an off-campus party last fall.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in San Diego County Superior Court, alleges Araiza, then 21, had sex with the minor outside of a home where he had been living and then brought her inside to a room where she was repeatedly raped in the early hours of Oct. 17.

Shady! Everyone already demanding he be arrested. Cut by the Bills and sent to the gulag. Guilty by accusation. Anybody can accuse someone of something and for a few bucks file a claim. Police supposedly investigated it but he nor the other player were arrested. Why not? Was it rape or not? Detectives listened to a phone call between the two after events happen. Apparently the sex was consensual to some degree.

Guy may have raped her who knows. But at a college party and just because she is 17 it should be statutory rape. He is barely 21 in college at a party and apparently didn’t ask for her id to verify her age. Because that’s what we all did in college.

Victims attorney is a shady sketch. Blowing up Twitter with screenshots and garnering any attention he can for personal gain clear as day. 0-3 on his last rape cases. Too dumb to realize in one tweet his victims email is in the tweet. Guy makes the team and then poof this becomes news. Attorney calls/text Arazia making threats etc. What attorney does that. Seems pretty reckless.

Attorney is posting the victims journal on Twitter. Claims police are stupid for not asking for it a year ago. Journal funny enough is brand new and like 4 pages long as victim recalls what happened

Victim states, walking into a gate at house party. Was offered a drink. Told a guy she went to grossemont college and flirted. Claims doesn’t know what happened next. Then walks into a house and back to a room. Was face down ass up and gets gang raped within 5 minutes of showing up. Sure are a lot of holes in this story

Find it odd victim writes 3 chicken scratch journal entries in a brand new journal supposedly the day after. No date no in detail information. Then writes “Okay here is what I remember before I forget “ and it basically says walked in gate, got a drink, don’t remember what happened next, saw 3 guys in a room.

Looks to me the attorney has something to do with this journal. Victim writes in journal supposedly it would be Oct 17, the day after party, and they are worried about a hickie or bruise on their neck as they have to go to class looking like that. 17th a Sunday, and apparently after being face down ass up just getting railed by 3 dudes the day before in a gang rape they are worried about hick on the neck and going to class the next day?

Victim needs a new attorney if anything. That journal looks fake made up on fly last nite type stuff. But fake or not what attorney post that? For a sexual assault specialist taking to Twitter to yap and call out names, he may want to unfollow that list of porn Stars, onlyfans and other profile sex workers in his Twitter account. Not the best of looks for a sexual assault lawyer with 3 straight L’s of recent.

This sucks. I by no means am condoning rape. Let's get that out of the way. But college aged kids do some crazy sexual shit these days. How were they supposed to know that a girl at their frat party was underage? By the way, 21 to 17 is not exactly grown men on a little girl. I'll offer 20-1 that girl was no cloistered virgin. And there is often a foggy line concerning consent when heavy drinking is going on.

Reprimand of sorts, yes. Ruined life, no. The girl's life isn't ruined. And the guys' lives shouldn't be ruined either.

Idk the details so im gonna reserve judgement.... but she cant give consent in california at age 17 to someone over the age of 18... whereas in NY she could bc 17 is the age of consent. So theres that. Almost all lawyers are scum, some are scummier than others.

Tough situation for the league but I havd always said it should be handled legally and if not in prison or found guilty players should beable to play
NFL morally policing things is a bit dicey to me
I know there are situations where we knoe guys did or almost definitely did something but you do not want accusations of something to destroy someone
I mean maybe it is one thing to have a video tape of Ray rice cracking his girl even though she wasn't innocent in the situation but you could see it and was not alleged...but other stuff is iffy

If all goes well, Araiza could now potentially play the team that drafted him twice a year while also getting to join an exciting squad that just added quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

Questions about Araiza’s legal case certainly won’t go away, but he’s got the evidence to back him up.

Prosecutors "declined" to pursue criminal charges against him. Now, after having his named cleared and being released from all potential charges in December, more evidence is favoring Araiza’s side of things.

Per reports Friday from ESPN, San Diego State, where Araiza played collegiately, “concluded that there are no findings against former Buffalo Bills punter Matt Araiza after conducting an investigation into allegations of rape and gang rape.” After being associated with some harsh and disturbing charges, Araiza has now taken another step toward rebuilding a potential career for himself.

Araiza spoke publicly for the first time since his release on Tomi Lahren's show and discussed how the Bills handled the process.

"It wasn't for talent," Araiza said. " ... I was cut because of these allegations. I hold nothing against the Buffalo Bills. I wish things were handled differently, but they did treat me with respect which I appreciate."
